Dimension of Biological resources:
There
is complexity of relationship between four dimensions of
biological resources.
•Quantity
is indicated by Biomass or number of species, but it
does not capture the
economically important quantity dimension
•Mass
volume and population size may be
relevant measure of
quantity of biological resources
•Quality:
It is defined in terms of intended use, what really constitutes the high
quality may conflict, given different valuation of alternative uses
•E.g.
A mono-culture of high yielding GMO variety may be considered high quality for
emphasizing food production, but it can be low quality for ecological
continuity and aesthetics
•Time dimension is the time period during which
certain stock of resource is determined, used and regenerated
•Space/
Place dimension: It includes the habitat or the territorial ranges where there
is high possibility of successful growth of some species and migratory pattern
